Workshop on flash floods, landslides in the Central Region

On January 16, in Hoi An (Quang Nam), VFCEA coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to organize a Workshop on Natural disasters such as flash floods and landslides in the Central Region, causes and mitigation solutions.

Attending the workshop were 150 delegates who were leaders of Quang Nam province, leaders of the Vietnam Construction Association and many leading experts in the field of disaster prevention in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Thanh, Quang Nam province has natural disasters of landslides and flash floods every year in mountainous areas, but 2020 is the most fierce year. Natural disasters have killed 43 people, 17 people are missing and caused heavy damage to crops, production, facilities...

Therefore, Mr. Thanh is looking forward to analysis and dissection to clarify the problem, need the most appropriate and adaptive solutions to natural disasters and climate change, construction works such as transportation, waterway electricity and socio-economic development projects in mountainous areas.

Mr. Thanh also raised the issue of population arrangement in mountainous areas, which needs to be calculated in a scientific and sustainable way, while promoting the maximum functions, increasing forest cover, enriching forest reserves... In addition, early warning and prediction to help prevent natural disasters proactively and reduce damage.

Concluding the workshop, Dr. Dang Viet Dung "packaged" with 5 groups of issues, in which the group of "recommendations" was emphasized. The Conference Organizing Committee will gather the opinions of leaders and experts into a report to submit to the Government, the Prime Minister and ministries, and at the same time apply the results of research and public implementation. launch operations against floods, flash floods and landslides, focusing on 5 tasks.
